Jitendra (Jitu) Kumar is a Senior R&D Staff member in the Environmental Sciences Division at ORNL. His research focuses on computational hydrology, terrestrial ecology, and machine learning and data science. He is interested in computational modeling and data analytics approaches to study the hydrological, ecological processes and landscape disturbance dynamics in different ecosystems across the globe. Working at the intersection of computing and earth sciences, he is also interested in development of parallel algorithms and tools to bring high performance computing to bear for addressing computationally challenging problems in earth and climate sciences.
He also has joint faculty appointment with the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
